Behavioral Sciences Department
The Department of Behavioral Sciences of Central Mindanao University offers Sociology, Anthropology and Psychology courses with degrees in Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. It is presently chaired by Dr. Raquelyn Jumawan-Dadang. Four (33%) of its faculty have PHD degrees, two (17%) are PHD candidates, 5 (42%) are Masters’s degree holders and one (8%) has Master’s units. Aside from academic routines, the department also conducts researches on issues concerning women, teenagers, disasters, and natural resource management and facilitates extension programs. Its Crises Intervention Team (CIT) headed by Dr. Leo Labrador facilitates debriefing, counseling and seminars to disaster victims. The chief of the University Center for Gender and Development (UCGAD) also comes from the Department in the person of Dr. Eva N. Mendoza.
To Reach out to the public and neighboring communities, the faculty goes on air every Thursday at 8:30-9:00 am at DXMU FM station 88.9.
