Submission of Abstracts for #PSS2018Siquijor National Conference: Extended!
Submission of abstracts for #PSS2018Siquijor is extended until August 15, 2018. Share your abstracts and see you on October 4-6, 2018 at Siquijor State College, Larena, Siquijor.
The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Sociology of Well-Being.’ From profit-driven fitness fads to the mainstreaming of mental health, from social trauma to collective healing, this conference seeks to inspire critical conversations about the aspirational concept of well-being.
This year’s conference seeks to bring in a range of diverse voices that can problematize, theorize and empirically analyze the concept of wellness. The organizers encourage authors to submit work-in-progress papers and use the conference as a venue to fine-tune ideas and reflect on directions for future research.
Paper presenters may consider submitting abstracts based on, but not limited to these themes:
• Medical sociology
• Sociology of youth and aging
• Sociology of sports
• Political economy of the wellness industry
• Place, environment, and human well-being
• Collective trauma and social suffering
• Social construction of happiness
• Gendered expectations on wellness
• Policy options on drug addiction and rehabilitation
• Methodological innovations in researching well-being
