The Philippines maintained a strong presence at this year’s International Sociological Association World Congress in Yokohama, Japan last 13-19 July. The theme for this year’s World Congress is Facing an Unequal World: Challenges for Global Sociology. Filipino sociologists Walden Bello and Emma Porio joined global public intellectuals including Saskia Sassen and Immanuel Wallerstein in plenary sessions.
