The Sociology of Hope: Ecologies, Embodiments, and Everyday Lives

In recent years, we have witnessed a series of global crises that have profoundly impacted individuals, communities, and societies. From the COVID-19 pandemic to the climate emergency, from political polarization to social inequality, we face complex challenges requiring innovative and collaborative responses. In this context, the Sociology of Hope conference aims to explore varying perspectives on hope in sociology by examining its construction, practice, and experience in various social contexts. The goal is to gain insights into promoting positive change, resilience, agency, and solidarity. The conference seeks to bring together diverse perspectives on hope, from theoretical to practical, to develop a nuanced understanding of hope as a sociological phenomenon. It aims to create a space for interdisciplinary engagement and dialogue on the role of hope in shaping individual and collective behavior, navigating social hierarchies, and promoting social justice and human rights.

To be included in the conference program, please fill out the ONLINE PRE-CONFERENCE REGISTRATION and the optional MEMBERSHIP FORM on or before Wednesday, September 27, 2023. Only the registered authors, who have submitted accepted abstracts and have paid the conference fee, will be listed in the Book of Abstracts and allowed to present in person or online.

There will be no conference kit to minimize our carbon footprint. The Book of Abstracts is only available online.
