Journal Description

The Philippine Sociological Review (PSR) is the official journal of the Philippine Sociological Society and is the sole sociological journal in the country. Since 1953, PSR has published empirical articles on the Philippines, Filipinos, Philippine society and culture, and conceptual or theoretical papers that promote the understanding of these topics and of the discipline.

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) recognizes the PSR as an accredited research journal. The journal is published annually. The Philippine Sociological Review is registered with the ISSN National Center Philippines, Bibliographic Services Division, National Library of the Philippines (ISSN 0031-7810).

Journal Refereeing Process

The Philippine Sociological Review publishes research articles that undergo a double-blind peer-review process. Submissions are first assessed internally by the Editorial Board, which can either be rejected (desk reject) or recommended for double-blind peer review. The Editorial Board then selects at least two reviewers based on their knowledge and expertise on the field or topic of the manuscript, as well as their extensive publication profile. Manuscripts can be revised and sent out for double-blind review up to three times. Research reports, book reviews, commentaries, and other contributions may not be double-blind reviewed but are internally rigorously reviewed by the Editorial Board prior to publication.
